by Blue Grass inam i the only one who think's a lot of the amazing stories terry come up with are fabricated or completely untrue?
every week he tells us how he by chance ran into a jw, mormon, evangilcial, etc.
and comes up with witty answers every time to counter every point they make and than have them running in fear.

It does matter to people who have been lied to time and time again, and hurt by those lies.
ExJWs of all people should be aware of the need for honesty.

A problem for a worldly when asking questions about the Watchtower.
by dgp injust for the sake of not being rude or impolite or whatever, i want to state a problem a worldly person has when asking questions or reaching conclusions about the watchtower: perhaps i unknowingly insult or annoy or in a way upset someone who has found himself of herself in that situation.
i just want to know more; i hope i won't offend anyone.. thanks..

JW Pejorative Use of Words to Belittle Others
by maputo95 ina comment to my jw friend on the definition of doctrine and how the wtbts uses the term 'doctrine' pejoratively and mockingly to describe ideas of the people of 'christiandom,' another derogatory word.
can anybody think of other words the jws use to attack people of other persuasions?.
"you have a misunderstood word on 'doctrines' as the bible is full of doctrine written by the men who authored the bible.. see definition of doctrine: a doctrine is a body of teaching and the bible contains a body of teaching.

They seem to say the doctrines of oral church tradtion are ‘devilish’ but if some of those oral traditions were written down in various books by the men of the very same church, and accepted as canon by councils of the church then the doctrines expounded within in are suddenly inspired by God?”
Good point!

Are Jehovah's Witnesses allowed to live in homes made of PLYWOOD? A Watchtower viewpoint from 1964.
by ThomasCovenant inwhile looking up whether jw nurses are allowed to administer blood transfusions i found this little gem from.
watchtower 15th november 1964 page 681 .
''the use of blood in adhesives for manufacturing plywood and other commonly used materials has now come to the attention of christians, and we use plywood as an example.. much plywood is made using blood glue, but some plywood is blood-free.. a christian purchaser or contractor may seek to obtain blood-free plywood if he can do so; however, if he decides to use all types of plywood, it must be left to his conscience.

I knew many JWs who lived in public housing, which often included houses made of plywood, and I never heard of this.
I suppose it comes under the situation that the JW isn’t overtly using a blood product (such as blood and bone fertiliser) so it’s not a major matter.

WOW!!! Just found out from someone who went to the one day assembly....
by Lady Liberty inhello friends... just found out that at the recent one day assembly they are now really discouraging people from getting married!!!!!
they will lose young ones like crazy if they start telling them that they cannot get married...what are these sexually frusterated young people to do??
you cannot masterbate, you cannot have sex outside of marriage (not that i would encourage it either, but...), now you cannot even get married?????

Re missionaries having to be married….
While there is no scriptural basis for it, I can see the practical side of it. I don’t know how many of you have ever lived in a foreign country, especially one where English (or your native tongue) isn’t the official language, but I have, and I can see many practical reasons for having a partner living with you.
Primarily, it gives company. There’s nothing as lonely as living in a country where few speak your language or understand your culture.
You have someone you can easily converse with in your own language.
Affection and morale – this couples with the point about company, but having someone who will give you a kiss and a cuddle at the end of the day is priceless.
Sex – I can imagine that the problem of immorality (from a JW standpoint) is “solved” if the missionaries have a sexual partner – their marriage mate.
I’m sure there are many other good reasons but they’re the ones that come to mind at the moment.

Overlapping generations once more - some tie-in I'm not aware of?

she at first had no idea what i'm talking about.
she read the article, yet she noticed no doctrine change (sidenote: way to go gb!

The women are thinking, I am so spiritual (and single) I comment and go in FS all the time. Elders and men think, "RATS, the CO is gonna kick my arse, I do not have any RVs this month" and children think......"Can't wait till I turn 18!!"
LOL - so true!!

Welcome!
I have traveled to post-Communist countries and have always been interested in the history of Communism in those countries. It was scary how similar their tactics were to the world of the WTS.
I look forward to your posts.
